Who Was Robin McKenzie?

In the 1950s on the north island of New Zealand a young man named Robin McKenzie began his career in physiotherapy (physical therapy, as we call it here in the States). He was making good progress with his practice and was developing his expertise in manual therapy which was a popular focus at the time.

Chance Discovery and Development of an Assessment System

Robin had a remarkable experience with a patient who made rapid, dramatic improvement with an accidental position widely accepted to harm patients with his particular problem. After that “chance discovery”, as he called it, he spent the next several decades learning from his patients and identifying patterns, ultimately developing an assessment method which is now practiced across the globe and which has been studied as much or more than any other physical assessment method.

Why We Use the McKenzie Method?

The McKenzie Method of MDT is responsible for millions of patients across the globe finding solutions through specific, yet simple movement and position strategies. It is this foundational assessment process which allows us to find solutions for patients who otherwise have continued to struggle.

Some may have a very similar struggle as You!
